Returning from the Civil War, Johnny Hamilton is visited in his sleep by his father's ghost, who tells him the father was murdered and demands revenge. At the family ranch Johnny finds his father dead and his mother Gertrude remarried his late husband's brother Claude, now owner of the estate. The outlaw Polonius is blamed, but Johnny suspects Claude may be the true killer.
