Sophia, Olivia Holt juggles two jobs — one at the upscale department store Sterlings and another at a local pub — and she makes small thefts to help pay for her cancer-stricken mother’s treatment. When she lifts a diamond dog collar along with some cash from Sterlings, she is secretly recorded by Nick, Connor Swindells, a contractor who installed the store’s security system. Fresh out of prison after being framed by the store’s owner for theft, Nick uses the footage to pressure Sophia into helping him crack the store’s secure locker.

The attempted heist goes wrong, and Sophia discovers that a security guard, Eddie Ed Kear, has been scapegoated. She also learns that Sterling keeps £500,000 in a private safe. Desperate to fund her mother’s treatment, she convinces Nick to go after that money instead. When Nick fails to hack into the safe’s security servers, they pivot to obtaining a key fob held by Sterling’s estranged wife, Cynthia, to open the safe. At the holiday party, Nick seems to win Cynthia over—only for Cynthia to reveal she already knows their plan and wants in.

On Christmas Eve, Nick and Sophia break into Sterling’s office. Inside the safe, they encounter a second biometric lock, which yields when Sophia’s DNA is unexpectedly compatible. She reveals that she is Sterling’s illegitimate daughter, disowned after he fired and abandoned her mother.

Before they can escape with the money, they are confronted by a security guard and Sophia persuades him to let them go by exposing Sterling’s long-running insurance scams. Meanwhile, Sterling arrives with the police—only to find the items he actually stole planted in his own safe. Cynthia had engineered this twist to take over the company, a move that also vindicates Nick and other wronged employees.

Sterling is arrested, Nick and Eddie are cleared, and Cynthia pays Sophia and Nick enough to resolve their financial struggles. Sophia’s mother receives treatment, Nick finds a place to stay near his daughter, and the two begin a relationship. The film closes with a warm Christmas dinner shared by their extended families.
