Spoilers ahead
The film revolves around two central characters: Vaishakan, Manoj K Jayan an aspiring film director, and Priyadarshan, Jayasurya a cheerful, hardworking village man. Vaishakan holds a government post, yet his dream clashes with reality when his script is bluntly rejected by a producer named Achayan, Jagathy Sreekumar who bluntly tells him the story isn’t worthy of production. Vaishakan’s life takes another twist when a suspension for neglecting his duties rocks his routine; his father, Chembil Ashokan, has long urged him to stay in the job, but the suspension becomes a testing ground and a possible doorway to his filmmaking passion. The critique and ridicule from peers about his failed directorial attempts—and his inattentiveness to work—lash at him, culminating in a formal five-year leave without pay.
