Jack McCall, Desperado 1953

Jack McCall [George Montgomery], a Southerner who joins the Union during the Civil War, becomes entangled in a dangerous ruse when three Confederate soldiers posing as Yankees, including Spargo [William Tannen], reveal the location of a headquarters. He is tried as a spy, escapes, and returns home to tell his parents what happened. He is followed by his cousin Bat McCall [James Seay] and sergeant Bill Hickok [Douglas Kennedy], who arrive just as Jack is leaving through the back door. When Jack’s father reaches for a rifle, Hickok shoots him, and Bat unwittingly shoots Jack’s mother through an upstairs door. Hickok then informs Bat that he has inherited the estate and will share in its management.

Jack escapes and tries to track down the Confederate soldiers who tricked him, but he still has not found them when peace is declared. After the war, Jack tries to prove his innocence and asks Spargo to testify. Spargo initially agrees, but when Jack is captured again, Spargo chooses to join Hickok and Bat. With the help of Rose Griffith [Angela Stevens], Jack escapes once more and remains determined to clear his name. Meanwhile, Hickok, Bat, and Spargo head for Kansas City in search of gold, and they hatch a plan to destroy the Sioux Indians. Jack, still aiming to clear his name, learns of their scheme and makes it his mission to stop them.
