During a séance, an espiritista (medium) declares that Rosa, a missing Catholic nun, is dead. Her younger sister, Teresa, grows uneasy as their mother begs the espiritista to speak to Rosa. The spirit instructs them to wait for Good Friday, establishing a spectral undertone that threads through the days ahead.

Meanwhile, Jun, a young photographer from Manila, travels to San Ildefonso to visit his father, Dr. Torres, who cannot walk or speak. It is Holy Week, and Jun is there to document the town’s Lenten rituals for the Manila-based magazine he contributes to. The atmosphere of devotion and sorrow frames his stay as he observes people in prayer, in processions, and in quiet acts of penance, capturing moments that feel both intimate and solemn.

As the days unfold, Jun encounters Teresa and takes her photograph while she appears dazed. This initial image becomes a thread that leads to a series of chance meetings, during which Teresa exhibits unusual, involuntary behaviors that she cannot explain. The encounters accumulate, and it becomes clear that something more than coincidence is at work, pulling them toward a bond that seems orchestrated by forces beyond their control.

In the clinic of his father, Jun discovers a film negative. When he develops the strip, he sees an image of his father with a young woman—a figure he soon learns is Rosa. The discovery deepens the mystery and hints at a hidden history that binds Rosa, Teresa, and Dr. Torres in a web the town has tried to keep out of sight.

During another séance, the spirit of Rosa takes control of Teresa, exposing painful truths. Rosa reveals that she had an affair with Dr. Torres, and that he forced her to have an abortion, which contributed to her death. The confession shatters the fragile balance between the living and the dead, and the weight of the past begins to press on everyone involved.

Following these revelations, tragedy strikes: Dr. Torres endures a car accident that leaves him mute and paralyzed, a consequence that seems connected to the haunting and the secrets Rosa carried. The culmination of Rosa’s vengeance arrives as she drives him to fall down the stairs and die, bringing a grim closure to the sequence of guilt, secrets, and retribution that began during the sacred season.
