What Is Island of the Dead About?
The premise of Island of the Dead without spoilers.
The film looks at collapse of Russia’s Modernist era, using silent‑screen star Vera Kholodnaia—whose mysterious 1919 death symbolised the period’s end—as focus. It mixes film fragments with music and paintings, contrasting the fragile beauty of the Epocha Modern with Futurism and Constructivism, showing avant‑garde subsumption and its legacy.
