On a quiet street lined with numerous houses, many of which are abandoned and marked with foreclosure signs, an extraordinary event begins to unfold that will threaten the entire community. A Russian satellite, re-entering the Earth’s atmosphere, crashes down into a nearby field. Unbeknownst to the residents, this satellite harbors alien bacteria that are introduced to our planet through the debris. These microorganisms are incredibly deadly, infecting humans upon contact and causing them to develop black-veined, veiny skin, often leading to death shortly thereafter.

The debris from the satellite lands near Jake Hampton, played by [Kavan Smith], and his brother Ethan, portrayed by [Colby Johannson]. Both are concerned about their livelihoods and worry about their future, especially with economic instability looming. The town is further disrupted when Amanda Spelling, [Nicole de Boer], returns to visit her hometown with her daughter Claire, played by [Merritt Patterson]. Amanda is there temporarily as she sorts through her divorce, and the family is staying with her aunt.

Things start to turn peculiar when Deputy Jenny, played by [Chelah Horsdal], reports the theft of a giant iron-like golem to the sheriff, who dismisses her worries, considering it a silly, petty theft. The detective believes the perpetrator likely used a truck to transport the enormous statue. However, the truth is far more terrifying. The debris from the satellite contains alien bacteria that, when exposed to human contact or electromagnetic interference, become highly active. This bacteria has the ability to animate metallic objects, giving rise to a colossal, menacing iron golem that begins a destructive rampage through the town.

Early encounters with the giant golem are devastating. It attacks and kills a driver, played by Scott MacNeil, with the bacteria inflicting a black, veiny transformation on its victim. The infected skin becomes visibly dark and veiny, signaling that the bacteria are not only deadly but capable of spreading rapidly. The scene intensifies as Ethan tries to get close to Steve Gregoropoulos, the first person to come into contact with the alien substance, only for the golem to arrive and kill him. Meanwhile, Max, played by [Jesse Moss], and Earl, portrayed by [Donnelly Rhodes], are worried about their town’s safety, especially as the chaos intensifies.

As the golem continues its destruction, Amanda watches helplessly as her aunt’s house is attacked, and her aunt’s skin turns veiny and black. She warns that the creature’s attack is unstoppable and that it’s a threat to everyone. The authorities remain skeptical until the enormity of the situation becomes undeniable. The sheriff, who has been dismissive, finally learns of the threat when the golem attacks a series of vehicles, killing everyone in its path and demonstrating its almost indestructible metallic body.

The townspeople scramble for safety. Jake shoots at the golem with his shotgun, but traditional weapons are ineffective against its metallic skin. They realize that the creature is driven by alien bacteria that are extremely resistant. The golem’s parts can be shattered, but the pieces reassemble themselves into a new, even larger form — a terrifying modern-day Golem animated by extraterrestrial bacteria. This vicious cycle of destruction makes it clear that conventional means won’t stop the creature.

Claire and Max, along with other survivors, attempt to escape on foot toward the nearest village, fearing the colossal robot’s next move. Meanwhile, Amanda, desperate to save her daughter, tries to evacuate the bar she’s barricaded into but faces the terrifying reality that the bacteria can infect metal and flesh alike. The more she and others try to fight the alien bacteria with antibacterial soaps and chemicals, the more evident it becomes that this is a different kind of menace—one fueled by alien biological material that interacts with metal and blood.

The vehicle of hope appears in the form of police officer Jenny, who manages to contact the sheriff and other authorities. Despite her efforts to warn everyone, the golem eventually reaches the bar, and the metal fragments begin moving on their own, reconnecting into the colossal, reanimated monster. The situation escalates as the bacteria-infested metallic parts attack indiscriminately, and the survivors realize that conventional weaponry cannot defeat them. Jake devises a risky plan to lure the bacteria into a gas container, intending to blow the creature apart once and for all. The plan succeeds temporarily, with the creature exploding into burning pieces, but the threat is not yet over.

Throughout the chaos, Earl – the wise, weathered grandfather played by [Donnelly Rhodes] – tries to find an effective solution. He discovers that alcohol, particularly vodka and other spirits, is lethal to the alien bacteria. This insight leads to the group’s frantic efforts to wash the metallic debris with alcohol and destroy all remnants of the golem. The characters work together to contain the threat, understanding now that the bacteria thrive on electromagnetic impulses and are vulnerable to alcohol.

As the dust settles, everyone is left to clean up the aftermath. Max, who was injured but survives thanks to his anemia, awakes to find the group washing the metallic pieces with alcohol, vowing never to create such a destructive creature again. Earl promises to keep all remaining debris under control, packed away carefully. Meanwhile, Amanda and Jake share a tender moment, celebrating their survival with a bottle of wine, even as they hear faint movements indicating that some debris might still be active beneath the surface—an unsettling reminder that the threat might yet resurface.

The film closes on a cautious note, emphasizing the importance of vigilance against unseen dangers after extraterrestrial interference. The characters learn a hard lesson about the destructive power of alien bacteria carried on metallic debris, and the importance of working together to survive such an extraordinary and lethal threat. The story remains a chilling reminder that sometimes, the greatest dangers come from the stars, and that humanity’s resilience is only as strong as its ability to understand and fight back against the unknown.
