Home Minister Varkala Dinesan is about to embark on a foreign tour when a breaking news report reveals a police crackdown on a peaceful protest at the Santhanpara crayon factory. The operation is led by CI Karunan [Kalabhavan Shajon], and SP Ilavarasan [Harish Uthaman] is shown as fiercely loyal to the minister. As the scene unfolds, the SP notices the minister being irritated by a mosquito bite, and he orders the pest controller to intervene—slapping the pest controller and warning him not to repeat the mistake—before sending the minister on his way with a practiced smile. The atmosphere is thick with tension, and the public perception of the incident begins to tilt toward controversy even before the bus ride that follows.

On a bus, Janaki [Aparna Balamurali], a doctor, drifts into memories of her past with Ashwin, a wildlife photographer. The couple’s romance faces strong opposition from both families, and Janaki’s gift of a smartphone to Ashwin—the one tool that could bridge their worlds—highlights the contrast between urban life and the wilderness he calls home. When Ashwin’s bike goes missing, the police recover it, and Vivek, Ashwin’s friend, asks him on the phone why he didn’t even thank the CI. Ashwin’s reply—an acknowledgment that his actions were duties, not favors—leaves Janaki stunned and unsettled. The memory jolts her back to the present, and she heads to the nearest police station, determined to see the CI.

Janaki reveals a shocking claim to the police: she killed and buried her friend Vivek. At first, the officers doubt her, but the story leaks to the media, and Vivek’s disappearance is confirmed. Taken to the scene of the alleged crime, Janaki shifts her account, accusing the CI of involvement in the murder. This enrages the CI, who slaps her, turning a tense standoff into a riot of public anger at the murder site. The SP arrives to defuse the situation, and the crowd’s fury swells as the investigation deepens.

Digging in the forest uncovers a body, but it is not Vivek’s; it’s Ashwin’s. A second body is found, and among the debris lies the CI Karunan’s smartwatch, a crucial clue that ties the killings to the officer. The SP interrogates Janaki and Karunan, who initially withhold the truth. Then Karunan begins to narrate the events that tie together a fifteen-year-old political conspiracy.

Fifteen years earlier, Dineshan, a party candidate fearing defeat, falsely accuses Ganeshan of sexual harassment, only to have Ganeshan still receive the party ticket. Dineshan then plots Ganeshan’s murder with Karunan. They enlist a driver, Prakashan, to carry out the plan. A witness to the fatal accident—a truck driver—sees what happened, but Karunan manipulates the system to indict the truck driver while Prakashan silently bears the burden of guilt. Years later, Prakashan confesses to a higher power, and Karunan lures him into the forest—where he kills him. Ashwin, nearby, witnesses the crime, and Karunan silences him as well.

Karunan’s confession lands him in remand, and his attempts to reach the minister fall on deaf ears. He ultimately commits suicide. Janaki is freed based on Karunan’s confession, and she recounts how she discovered Ashwin’s body and reached the station. In the film’s closing credits sequence, an SI questions how Ashwin left his glasses, raising questions about Janaki’s involvement. The SP’s respect for Janaki grows; he decides to support her and negotiates with the minister to “close the Karunan chapter.” Yet that same night, three individuals enter the police station and kill Karunan in the presence of the SP and Janaki. The film ends with Janaki sitting beside the minister, watching a recording of the murder, leaving the audience with a haunting sense that truth persists even as power seeks to bury it.
