I'm So Excited 2013

Ground technician León (Antonio Banderas) prepares for the departure of Peninsula Flight 2549 to Mexico City by removing the chocks from the wheels of an Airbus A340. In a moment of distraction, he waves at his wife Jessi as she hauls a luggage cart across the tarmac, inadvertently causing a collision with another technician who was busy checking Twitter. Concerned for her well-being, León approaches Jessi, who reveals the exciting news that she is pregnant.

Meanwhile, aboard the aircraft, chaos unfolds as a flight attendant decides to sedate all Economy class passengers with a muscle relaxant, while also administering the same to herself and the other attendants in Economy. In First Class, the crew members — Joserra, Fajardo, and Ulloa — prepare for service while indulging in tequila shots. One of the unusual First Class passengers, Bruna (Paz Vega), takes note of the unusually quiet Economy cabin and ventures into the cockpit. She boldly claims to be both psychic and a virgin, leaving the crew hinting at a more ominous fate.

As Bruna shares her unsettling insights about the flight, Joserra reflects on his relationship with Captain Alex Acero and co-pilot Benito Morón. Though Joserra wishes to live openly with the Captain, domestic obligations keep Alex in the closet, struggling with his feelings for Joserra. The atmosphere intensifies when Mr. Más, another First Class passenger, approaches the cockpit with his suspicion that something is gravely wrong. Unbeknownst to all on board, León has accidentally left one of the chocks entangled with the landing gear, rendering a safe landing impossible.

As Norma Boss and Infante join the cockpit crew, Norma expresses her indignation toward Peninsula’s negligence regarding First Class service. Joserra reveals his affair with the Captain, while co-pilot Benito admits to a painful awkward experience regarding his exploration of the Captain’s sexuality. As the tension escalates, Norma learns the grim truth about the drugged Economy class passengers, spurring her determination to lodge a formal complaint.

Through a series of events, Ricardo, an Economy class passenger, attempts to call his ex-girlfriend Alba, who is perilously perched on the Segovia Viaduct in Madrid. When the call goes awry due to technical issues, a chance encounter with Ruth leads to startling revelations about past heartaches and the emotional upheaval surrounding their relationships.

To distract passengers from the mounting fear for their lives, the flight attendants resort to performing a spirited dance to The Pointer Sisters’ “I’m So Excited.” They even concoct a batch of cocktails, inadvertently laced with mescaline from a clandestinely smuggled drug. As the atmosphere becomes electric, passengers begin to act on their heightened desires, resulting in a bizarre blend of sexual exploits and chaos, including a comically misaligned romance between the flight attendant and passengers.

As fate has it, the aircraft finally receives clearance to land at La Mancha airport. Amidst the impending panic, Bruna feels the pangs of doom lurking near, pinpointing Infante as a hitman with a darker secret. The plane manages a crash landing, but not without significant upheaval in personal connections and confessions of love. Norma and Infante leave the tarmac entwined, while the crew’s complex relationships unravel amidst the wreckage of the night’s events.

In the resolution that follows, León finds himself amidst the aftermath, reuniting with Jessi, who has witnessed the shambles of the transformed personal lives around them. Mr. Más reaches out to his estranged daughter amidst the chaos, contemplating how to mend the bonds torn apart. Ultimately, hopes for reconciliation linger as characters learn to reconcile with their newfound realities, all while an unexpected encounter beneath the foam reveals that life and love persist in the most unexpected places.
