Cecilia Roth

Cecilia Edith Rotenberg Gutkin, known professionally as Cecilia Roth is a critically acclaimed Argentine actress, born on August 8, 1956. She enjoys a distinguished career, having received two Goya Awards and a European Film Award for her performances. Roth distinguished herself as an 'Almodóvar girl,' frequently appearing in the films of celebrated Spanish director, Pedro Almodóvar. She was also known as the muse of Fito Páez during the 1990s.

Roth began her acting career in Argentina but moved to Spain in 1976 to escape the military dictatorship. In Spain, she found great success in films like Las verdes praderas (The Green Meadows), Arrebato (Rapture), and Laberinto de pasiones (Labyrinth of Passion). She worked with Almodóvar on notable films like 'Pepi, Luci, Bom', 'All About My Mother', and 'Pain and Glory.' 'All About My Mother' won an Academy Award for Almodóvar for Best Foreign Language Film. In addition to her film work, Roth has also had significant roles in numerous TV series and soap operas. She has also performed on stage in both Argentina and Spain.
