Set in the opulent, tradition-bound world of affluent Christian Palestinians, Tala’s life is framed by two very different sets of expectations: the public rituals of a Jordan-bound wedding and the private yearnings that pull at her heart. Her parents, Reema and Omar, navigate the pressure of tradition, wealth, and reputation as they prepare to host a lavish engagement for Tala with Hani during a visit to Jordan. The film then shifts to London, where Tala’s path intersects with Leyla, a young British Indian Muslim woman who is quietly dating Tala’s closest friend, Ali.
