Matt Stevens runs the high school like a mob boss—extorting protection money, selling copied tests, and rigging the student‑president vote to beat Kelly. Apart from his loyal acolytes, he’s widely despised. His wealthy parents live in Europe and give him little guidance. The grip loosens when a group of students challenges him and publicly humiliates him at a drag‑race.

Spoilers ahead

Matt Stevens leads a leather-jacket gang that keeps a wary eye on a boy they recently beat for not paying protection money. He is running for class president at Wilson High School and wins the election by fixing the results. He announces there will be more dances, each priced at 25 cents, collected by class treasurer Homer “Crickett” Davis, a loyal admirer who idolizes Matt. They plan to buy a Boxer dog as the school’s mascot. Matt also charges for tests and many other school activities, and a good portion of the student body grows to resent him. But his wealth and swagger can’t compensate for the love he misses from his constantly traveling parents.
