In this classic Three Stooges outing, Moe Howard stands trial for assaulting his comrades Larry Fine and Joe Besser, pleading with Judge Vernon Dent that he was under medical advice to maintain tranquility. Yet the courtroom’s fragile calm is shattered by Larry and Joe as they rehearse a raucous musical number, a performance that only worsens Moe’s delicate condition.

In a burst of frayed nerves, Moe loses control and entangles Larry’s trombone around their necks, turning a tense moment into a chaotic tangle of metal and misfortune. The scene sets the tone for a story driven by stubborn pride, slapstick miscommunication, and the ever-present tug-of-war between friendship and frayed nerves.

Concerned for Moe’s well-being, Larry and Joe propose a therapeutic hunting excursion to ease his stress and restore some peace. The trio plunges into the outdoors, hoping the change of scenery will help Moe regain his footing. But the plan quickly spirals as they stumble into trouble with a hungry bear that swipes their provisions, throwing the outing into even deeper disarray.

Frazzled, Moe begs his companions to confront the bear, leading to a string of escalating gags and close calls that end with the animal snatching their vehicle right out from under them. The misadventure takes another sharp turn when the trio becomes tangled in a sheriff’s pursuit of outlaw Mad Bill Hookup.

Despite their well-meaning but bungling actions, they accidentally capture Hookup and collect a hefty reward. Yet their luck runs out when a subsequent blunder allows the fugitive to slip away, earning the sheriff’s ire and prompting Moe to lash out at his friends in a moment of volatile tension.

Returning to court, Moe recounts the chaotic chain of events and attributes his long rest to the tumultuous experiences he endured. Moved by his plight, the judge exonerates him, offering a vicarious sigh of relief to the courtroom. But the verdict leaves Larry and Joe disgruntled, and their ensuing quarrel with Moe unleashes even more chaos, teased by a timely and comical intervention—courtesy of Larry’s resilient cranium—that re-centers the trio just long enough for the scene to fade.
