Guest House Paradiso 1999

Richard “Richie” Twat, [Rik Mayall], and Edward “Eddie” Elizabeth Ndingombaba, [Adrian Edmondson], run the Guest House Paradiso, the worst guest house in the United Kingdom. Following a staff exodus, the place begins rapidly losing customers until the arrival of the Nice family, headed by Mr. Nice, [Simon Pegg], and the famous Italian actress Gina Carbonara, [Hélène Mahieu], who are on the run from her ill-tempered and criminal fiancé, Gino Bolognese, [Vincent Cassel], and their fortunes suddenly shift for the better.

With the chef stealing all the food, Richie and Eddie improvise a meal using radioactive fish salvaged from the nearby nuclear power station’s lorries, hoping to feed the dwindling guests. Meanwhile, Gino tracks Gina thanks to a residency promotion meant to attract more visitors. After convincing Gina to elope, Gino attempts to force himself on her, creating a volatile confrontation at the dilapidated hotel.

As the dinner unfolds, the radioactive fish take their toll: Gino and the other guests at the hotel fall violently ill. Realizing the disaster they’ve cooked up, Richie and Eddie scramble to escape, but not before pulling Gina to safety from Gino. Gino meets his end in a chaotic moment when he’s caught in the crossfire of projectile-vomiting guests, being shoved out a window and off a cliff.

Just as they think they’ve slipped away, government agents arrive with a hush-hush offer: £10 million, first-class Caribbean tickets, and new identities for Richie, Eddie, and Gina, in exchange for their silence. They accept, sealing a reckless, offbeat escape from their own reckless scheme.

In the post-credits scene, the trio lounges at a beach bar named the Beach Bar Paradiso, where Eddie winks at the camera and delivers a sly line about Gino’s fate: only Gino died, otherwise there’d be “a moral question-mark hanging over our escape.”
