While drifting through Mexico, American engineer Joseph Wiley, Ryan O’Neal, encounters a high-society woman named Liliana Holbrook, Anne Archer. A violent confrontation unfolds: Holbrook is wounded, and Wiley corners Argenti, who is eventually killed by his associate Jaap, a figure embedded in the shadowy world of the diamond trade and acting on orders that hang over Argenti’s downfall. The tension eases only when Jaap’s intervention ends Argenti’s scheme, allowing Holbrook to recover and Wiley to press toward a final, uneasy victory.
