After successfully dismantling a drug lab in Latin America, MI6 agent James Bond takes a well-deserved vacation in Miami Beach. However, his break is short-lived as his superior, M (Bernard Lee), requests him to monitor bullion dealer Auric Goldfinger at the hotel. During the course of his investigation, Bond uncovers Goldfinger’s cheating tactics in a high-stakes gin rummy game, bolstered by the assistance of his accomplice, Jill Masterson, who communicates with him through binoculars and a one-way radio. In a twist of fate, Bond intervenes, blackmailing Goldfinger into conceding defeat in the game. Unfortunately, after a night spent with Jill, Bond finds himself attacked by Goldfinger’s Korean henchman, Oddjob (Harold Sakata), awakening to a harrowing sight: Jill’s lifeless body, coated in gold paint, a victim of “skin suffocation.”

Upon returning to London, Bond is updated by Colonel Smithers of the Bank of England (Richard Vernon) and M about suspicious fluctuations in gold prices, hinting at illegal international sales. Bond is tasked with uncovering the methods Goldfinger employs to smuggle gold across borders. As a licensed jeweler, Goldfinger legally operates metallurgical facilities to melt down and reshape gold, but his transportation methods remain a mystery.

Equipped with a modified Aston Martin DB5 and gadgets from Q (Desmond Llewelyn), Bond encounters Goldfinger at a country club in Kent. Engaging in a game of golf for high stakes—wagering a bar of Nazi gold against Goldfinger’s £5,000—he cleverly outwits Goldfinger by switching their golf balls, ultimately costing him the game. Goldfinger, displeased with the loss, warns Bond to stay out of his way, while Oddjob displays his strength, showcasing the lethal nature of his steel-rimmed hat.

Intrigued, Bond follows Goldfinger to Geneva, Switzerland, where he crosses paths with Jill’s sister, Tilly (Tania Mallet), who unsuccessfully attempts to avenge her sibling. Sneaking into Goldfinger’s refinery with the help of tracking devices, Bond learns that Goldfinger is collaborating with Chinese nuclear physicist Dr. Ling (Burt Kwouk) to devise a plan known as “Operation Grand Slam,” which involves contaminating gold stored at Fort Knox using a dirty bomb.

Bond finds himself captured and transported by Pussy Galore, a pilot working for Goldfinger, to the latter’s stud farm in Kentucky. Seizing the opportunity, Bond activates his personal location beacon while on the plane, concealing the device in his shoe. Upon arrival, he escapes captivity and observes a meeting between Goldfinger and American mafiosi, who are aiding in his nefarious plan.

Goldfinger’s scheme involves incapacitating the guards at Fort Knox by releasing Delta 9 nerve gas, allowing his team to infiltrate the facility and seize its gold reserves, thus triggering a market upheaval that will favor his personal wealth. During this crucial moment, Bond’s charm helps sway Pussy, convincing her of Goldfinger’s madness.

As Operation Grand Slam unfolds, Goldfinger’s private army commences their attack on Fort Knox, while Bond finds himself handcuffed to the bomb inside the vault. Despite being outmatched by Oddjob, Bond manages to escape and confronts the deadly henchman, leading to an intense battle. Ultimately, just seconds before disaster strikes, an atomic specialist successfully disarms the bomb.

In a climactic showdown, while en route to the White House for lunch with the president, Goldfinger attempts to hijack Bond’s plane. However, in a fierce struggle, Goldfinger is ejected through an open window, resulting from a gunshot that compromised the aircraft’s structure. In a thrilling escape, Bond and Pussy parachute to safety just before the plane crashes into the sea. As they land in a wooded area, a helicopter from Felix Leiter flies overhead. With a smirk, Bond quips, “this is no time to be rescued,” as he and Pussy share a moment of peaceful reprieve, wrapped in their parachute.
