Mae, Nirina Zubir, a tomboy, shares a village near Jakarta with three male friends: Aming Sugandhi as Eman, Ringgo Agus Rahman as Beni, and Deddy Mahendra Desta as Guntoro. Each of them struggles with unfulfilled goals, and Mae’s parents—Jaja Mihardja as Pak Mardi and Meriam Bellina as Bu Mardi—grow worried that Mae has never embraced femininity or started a career, a combination they fear could make her less desirable to potential husbands.
