Desperate for anonymity, Lung seeks a hideout, and it becomes public knowledge through forums that Yu Ting is his daughter. She is summoned to the school to meet the principal and her class teacher Markus [Alan Luk], accompanied by her stepmother Li Xiaomei [Huang Lu], a prostitute whose presence unsettles the school community. The principal’s disgust at Li Xiaomei’s occupation intensifies the sense that Yu Ting’s life is under threat from both personal history and judgmental eyes.

In a cruel undercurrent of secrecy, Yu Ting and Markus begin a forbidden relationship. Markus becomes so entranced by Yu Ting’s abilities that he struggles to focus on his teaching duties, his professional distance melting into a dangerous fascination. One day, Tai heads to an abandoned warehouse to feed a stray dog named Gustav, only to be tailed by classmates who disapprove of his online defense of Yu Ting. When they attack, Don’s shouted line, “guts,” revives Tai’s resolve and helps him push back, revealing the complex web of loyalties that bind these characters together.

The plot thickens when Lung hires a hacker, who turns out to be Don, and together they uncover footage of Li Xiaomei with Markus captured by surveillance cameras from the brothel. Don shows Yu Ting the shocking video, and she discovers she has contracted gonorrhea from Markus, forcing a painful and abrupt severing of ties. The emotional weight of the revelation compounds the already fragile social fabric around Yu Ting, shattering any remaining sense of safety within her world.

Overwhelmed by prejudice against her mother’s profession, Li Xiaomei makes a fatal choice. She commits suicide by leaping from a building; her body’s decapitation during the fall lands on Tai’s balcony, an image that brutalizes all who witness it. Lung, fearing exposure, tries to coerce Don into disposing of the body, but Don sees through the ploy and rejects him. Lung attempts to flee the city, but a car crash near his home ends his life, and Yu Ting finds him in her arms at the scene. Don ultimately relocates the body to Gustav’s warehouse, removing it from the immediate public gaze.

In the final, quiet moment, Tai plays his beloved No. 1 in G Major for Yu Ting one last time. The two affirm the bond that has sustained them through a tide of prejudice, turmoil, and tragedy, and, as a shared act of reckoning, they leap from the building together, choosing each other as their only harbor in a world that has too often failed them.
