In 1960 Brion Gysin invented the Dream Machine, a simple device of a rotating cylinder, motor and 100‑watt bulb that creates hypnotic light patterns capable of drug‑free hallucinations. Director Nik Sheehan uses a custom Dream Machine to explore Gysin’s art, ideas and his friendships with counter‑cultural figures such as William S. Burroughs and Kurt Cobain, probing the nature of consciousness and creative freedom.
