Finding Sayun 2011
Atayal director Chen Chieh‑yao returns to her home village to uncover legend of Sayun, an Atayal girl who drowned carrying a Japanese teacher’s belongings at the end of World II. TV crew visits hamlet Tyohemg in Nanao Township, Yilan County. Hunter Yukan doubts the tale until his grandfather’s memories revive interest in abandoned tribal settlement, deserted fifty years ago.
