In New York City, a homeless teenager named Tereek Steven Prescod is out late with friends, the city lights glimmering as they part ways. When he notices a deaf and blind man, Artie Robert Tarango, holding a cane and a sign asking for help crossing the street, he hesitates briefly before stepping in to assist. Artie writes down the bus number he needs, and the two begin to introduce themselves as they walk toward the bus stop, slowly building a trust that grows with every small exchange. Even though Tereek is expecting messages from his girlfriend, he chooses to stay by Artie’s side to ensure he gets on the right bus, putting someone else’s safety ahead of his own plans.
