Lynn Blodgett, an artist with a deep-seated coulrophobia, is haunted by unsettling dreams that revive after her divorce from her husband, a doctor named Bert Tokyo, who physically assaulted her when he learned she sought a divorce and is now fighting for full custody of their son, Nicholas. The sleepless nights begin to bleed into real life when a naked-eyed, battle-axe–carrying clown appears outside her home in a chilling glimpse of a figure named Shivers The Clown.
