Fallada: The Last Chapter (1988): Cast

Set in 1937, the biographical drama follows author Hans Fallada as he endures intense scrutiny and intermittent imprisonment, pressured by the regime to produce propaganda for the Fatherland. Even the love and support of his patient wife and children begin to feel suffocating, revealing how the demands of politics, fame and family trap a once‑vibrant writer. The film offers a rare, in‑depth portrait of a creative mind pulled in conflicting directions by the harsh realities of his time.
