Escape Room: Tournament of Champions Reviews & Ratings

Escape Room: Tournament of Champions Echo Score Breakdown
Escape Room: Tournament of Champions delivers a louder, more spectacle‑driven sequel that succeeds in providing adrenaline‑filled set pieces but struggles with narrative coherence and character depth. Critics commend the inventive rooms and heightened tension, while several note the story’s logical gaps and rushed resolution. Audience reactions echo this split, praising the visual thrills yet lamenting shallow motivations. Consequently, the film offers an entertaining ride that falls short of a fully satisfying experience.
Our own 0–100 rating, built from five aspects: art, character, story, the sensory experience and how well a film rewatches.
- Art & Craft 70
In terms of direction and production design, the sequel elevates the visual spectacle with more elaborate and ambitious escape rooms. Critics highlight the inventive set pieces and heightened tension, while some note uneven pacing and occasional editing flaws. Viewers similarly enjoy the striking visuals but cite inconsistent rhythm, resulting in a generally strong yet uneven artistic execution.
- Character & Emotion 50
When evaluating character depth and performances, the film presents a more likable ensemble than its predecessor but many critics and viewers find the portrayals thin and dialogue forced. Positive notes mention improved chemistry, yet repeated complaints focus on generic archetypes and implausible decisions. Overall, character work remains modest and uneven.
- Story & Flow 45
In the realm of story and pacing, the narrative attempts to expand the premise but often sacrifices logical coherence. Critics and audiences alike point to rushed third‑act developments and plot holes that undermine engagement. While the escalating stakes provide moments of tension, the overall flow feels disjointed, limiting the film’s narrative effectiveness.
- Sensory Experience 70
Regarding sensory experience, the movie excels with vivid sound design and a pulse‑pounding score that heighten the escape‑room tension. Visuals showcase inventive trap mechanisms and dynamic lighting, earning praise from reviewers. Minor criticisms note occasional over‑reliance on loud effects, yet the overall sensory impact remains compelling and immersive.
- Rewatch Factor 65
The rewatch factor benefits from the film’s high‑octane set pieces and the curiosity of solving new puzzles, which many viewers find entertaining on subsequent viewings. However, the thin storyline and unresolved threads reduce incentive for repeat engagement, resulting in moderate replay value.
