Kyle Keeley, an imaginative young boy who loves to solve puzzles, dives into the world created by famous game designer Mr. Luigi Lemoncello, played by Russell Roberts. Kyle, joined by a dynamic cast of twelve youngsters, discovers an invitation to test a futuristic library that challenges every nerve and nerve of wit.

The library unveiling promises an extraordinary contest: twelve kids are selected to race through puzzles and riddles, with the first to escape crowned the new spokesperson for Lemoncello’s brand. The participants include Kyle Keeley, his adventurous best friend Akimi Hughes (Breanna Yde), the brainy Sierra Russell (Klarke Pipkin), the math-minded Andrew Peckleman (AJ Rivera), the crafty Charles Chiltington (Ty Nicolas Consiglio), Haley Daley, Rose Vermette, Miguel Fernandez, Yasmeen Smith-Snyder, the enthusiastic Kayla Carson, Sean Keegan (Dylan Kingwell), and Bridgette Wadge. The rules are strict, and the devices the kids hold can be used to opt out—though opting out means forfeiting the game.

From the moment the first clue is solved, tensions rise. Charles Chiltington reveals a sly, bullying streak as he manipulates others, causing Yasmeen Smith-Snyder to be eliminated after his lie undermines trust. A holographic librarian named Ms. Tobin explains that the four rooms—horror, fantasy, classic, and children—will test each contestant, with the caveat that every room can be entered only once. The challenge is real, and the group must learn to work together while watching for hidden tricks.

Miguel eagerly volunteers for the horror room but becomes overwhelmed by visions of Dracula, Frankenstein’s monster, and a werewolf, ultimately opting out before reaching the Tell-Tale Heart clue. The fear shown by Miguel echoes the mounting pressure, and Rose Vermette also withdraws after being nudged toward the edge by the fearsome wonders of the horror world. With fear thinning the group, the remaining six split into two teams: Chiltington, Haley, and Andrew Peckleman form one trio, while Kyle Keeley, Akimi Hughes, and Sierra Russell form the other.

Kyle’s team tackles the classic room, riding flying books to uncover a clue, while Chiltington’s team dives into the children’s section, where the treacherous plan to win is laid as Chiltington dictates that Humpty Dumpty’s puzzle must be solved. Peckleman crosses paths with Charlotte from Charlotte’s Web and Mother Goose, gathering clues in parallel. Both squads earn their first clues, but Chiltington’s deception surfaces when he claims the clue is forgotten in the children’s room, a lie that leads Haley to attempt retrieval and ultimately to her disqualification for attempting to re-enter the restricted space—an act spurred by her distraction with selfies, a behavior Ms. Tobin recognizes and rejects.

As the plot thickens, Lemoncello and Dr. Zinchenko tighten their awareness of Chiltington’s scheming. Meanwhile, a glitch in the system involving Wilbur the Pig becomes a sideshow as Dr. Z heads toward the scene. Chiltington and Peckleman insist they aren’t cheating, even as the former secretly pockets a golden key with the power to influence the entire library. Kyle’s team continues into the fantasy section, while Chiltington cheeks into the fantasy zone once more, coaxing Andrew to follow and participate in the cheating.

In a dramatic turn, the two groups confront the consequences of deception as the victory conditions blur, the beanstalk collapses under the weight of the key’s power, and the Wicked Witch of the East makes her presence felt. The library is shaken as the troll from Three Billy Goats Gruff and other dangers spill into the halls, and the tension peaks when a giant pterodactyl—the brainchild of Kyle’s earlier idea room—takes shape and chases the kids.

Lemoncello steps in personally, guiding the children with calm and resolve, while the story reveals that Mother Goose has mastered ninjitsu, enabling the kids to counter the library’s wild manifestations. Water, cleverness, and teamwork become their tools, and the group attacks the looming threats with courage rather than fear. Chiltington, recognizing the consequences of his actions after facing Grimm-like counterattacks from Hansel and Gretel, chooses to help the team, and together they outrun the creatures that had invaded their world.

The escape route opens through the vents, and the children use a combination of dynamite-like devices and quick thinking to maintain distance from pursuing threats, including Count Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, the Werewolf, and other furies. They reach the exit, where Ms. Tobin explains how to activate the mechanism that will end the game’s chaos. A final confrontation with the giant pterodactyl is averted when Kyle, seizing the moment, embraces his own wild idea—fighting the creature with red balloons he finds—an act Lemoncello encourages as a powerful admission of his own bravery.

In the end, Lemoncello, Dr. Z, and the surviving children emerge as winners, with Lemoncello declaring them all spokespeople for his company. Dr. Z jokes about needing a vacation to recover from the adventure and to restore the book characters to their rightful places. Andrew Peckleman reconciles with Chiltington, offering him friendship and a ride home despite their earlier clashes. Kyle Keeley is offered a summer librarian position, a dream come true, and he gratefully accepts, receiving a golden key to keep as a symbol of his new role and the trust Lemoncello places in his imagination and leadership.
