The film revisits Dragon Ball’s origin, reshaping how Goku first encounters Bulma and the eccentric martial‑arts master Kame‑Sen’nin. It also compresses the Red Ribbon Army saga, reversing the classic premise so the Army tracks down Goku instead of the reverse, while still following his quest for the Dragon Balls.

Goku is a brave and strong boy with a monkey tail, living a solitary life on Mount Paozu. His remarkable abilities in martial arts and his superhuman strength set him apart from others. One day, while fishing, he encounters a girl named Bulma, who is driving a car and almost hits him. Mistakenly believing her vehicle is a dangerous monster, Goku throws it aside, only to be shot by Bulma in return. Despite the initial misunderstanding, Goku perceives her as a demon, though Bulma proves she is human despite lacking a tail. Remembering his grandpa’s advice to be kind to girls, Goku invites her into his house. Inside, Bulma eagerly searches for his prized possession, a glowing orange ball which Goku believes is his grandfather’s keepsake.
When she approaches him, Bulma reveals her true interest—she is after the legendary Dragon Balls, mystical artifacts capable of summoning the Eternal Dragon to grant wishes. She explains to Goku the legend surrounding these powerful balls and offers him a deal: feeling her up to make him stronger. Seeing no harm, Goku agrees, embarking on a journey that will change his life forever. The story unfolds as they travel together, encountering a series of adventures and challenges.
In a forest, they are halted by a bizarre creature—a bull that demands Bulma. Goku approaches to fight but discovers the creature is actually a robot, which then transforms into a bat. Just as he is about to get overwhelmed, his five-minute strength boost ends, turning him back into Oolong the pig, much to his embarrassment. Meanwhile, Yamcha, a fierce fighter, appears and demands their capsules and money. During the confrontation, Puar recognizes Oolong’s mischievous antics, prompting Yamcha to attack Goku. However, Bulma’s awakening startles Yamcha, forcing him to retreat with Puar.
Their journey takes them northward, where they stumble upon a massive metal tower known as Muscle Tower. Goku charges into battle against soldiers and the tower’s defenses, quickly realizing that the robotic enemies are no ordinary foes. Inside, he confronts Major Metallitron, a robot he dismisses easily, and then proceeds to face General White of the Red Ribbon Army. In a tense showdown, White activates Android 8, a gentle robot who refuses to fight or kill. Goku, respecting his kindness, nicknames him “Eighter.” The two bond through a playful snowball fight, highlighting Goku’s compassionate nature amidst chaos.
Later, a turtle guide helps the group find Master Roshi, the legendary Turtle Hermit, who possesses a Dragon Ball of his own. Roshi introduces Goku to the Nimbus Cloud, which only he can ride, and attempts to showcase his mystical powers—although he is more focused on humorous antics like asking Bulma for a glimpse of her underwear, which she inadvertently grants. Their moment of levity is cut short when General Blue arrives, attacking with a fleet of battleships. Roshi swiftly uses his iconic Kamehameha wave to wipe out the fleet, demonstrating his formidable strength. Goku later learns this powerful attack himself, managing to destroy enemy submarines.
The Red Ribbon soldiers, however, capture Bulma, Yamcha, Oolong, Puar, and Roshi, leaving Goku alone to find and rescue his friends. With the Dragon Radar and relentless determination, Goku fights through hordes of Red Ribbon soldiers across the land. Meanwhile, the others struggle to escape from prison at the Red Ribbon headquarters. Their efforts culminate in a daring breakout, where Goku heroically arrives with a formidable army of tanks, leading to a fierce battle.
Commander Red and Officer Black, two high-ranking officers, attempt to escape with their last set of Dragon Balls. Black, driven by arrogance, kills Commander Red after learning of his true wish—wishing to grow taller. Black then unleashes a giant robot to destroy Goku, which nearly kills him with its destructive beam. Android 8, who has joined Goku, intervenes despite being battered and damaged, sacrificing himself to protect Goku. In a moment filled with grief and rage, Goku taps into a new, deeper power, unleashing a massive Kamehameha to finish Black.
As peace begins to settle, the Eternal Dragon Shenron appears, yet Goku chooses to make a different wish—he asks to revive Android 8 and to remove the deadly bomb inside him, honoring his friend’s sacrifice. This act of kindness and heroism encapsulates Goku’s true spirit—always ready to protect and forgive, even in the midst of chaos and destruction. The story concludes with the promise of many future adventures, as Goku’s journey of discovery, friendship, and courage continues to unfold.
