What Is Detention About?

During 1962 Taiwan, a period marked by political repression, students are confined to Tsuihua Secondary School for a night of detention. What begins as a disciplinary measure quickly descends into a terrifying ordeal when a secret literary club is shut down. A student named Fang finds herself caught in a surreal nightmare, exploring the school's unsettling environment and confronting grotesque creatures while desperately searching for her missing professor and uncovering the dark secrets lurking beneath the surface of fear and authoritarian control.

Detention (2011) follows a late-night nightmare at Grizzly Lake High, where a serial killer known as Cinderhella stalks the student body. The story centers on a crew of misfits—Riley, Ione, Toshiba, Mimi, and Clapton—along with Sander, who is secretly smitten with Riley. When the school’s strict principal, Verge, places the group in detention until 10 PM on prom night, he is convinced that one of them must be the killer.
