Spoilers ahead
During a years-long drought, entire communities thin out as people abandon the affected area, leaving those with the fewest resources to fend for themselves amid a growing wave of violence. After one of his sons dies in an ambush by a former family friend, the Duke Stone orders three of his sons—Ned Stone, Kyle Stone, and Parker Stone—to wipe out the Turner family. His youngest son, Billy Stone, stays behind to guard the family farm, hoping the simple life can endure a little longer. The Turners’ lie about the death—that it was an accident during the kidnapping of Turner’s girlfriend, Shelly, destined for sale to human traffickers—spurs a vengeful mission that drums up danger at every turn.
