Two Davids, living in distant corners of India, drift through different lives until a shared thread of fate begins to pull them together in a tale that marches across a decade.

In 1999, the younger David is a 19-year-old amateur guitarist born into a lower-middle-class Christian family in a crowded, impoverished colony of Mumbai. He moves through life with a sunny, carefree disposition, dreaming of turning his guitar into a profession and hoping to help his sister, Sussannah, pursue her own ambitions abroad in Dubai. Their father, Noel, is a devoted Protestant priest who leads charitable work in the neighborhood, trying to lift people out of hardship. But a local Hindu nationalist politician, Malathi Tai, learns of Noel’s charitable activities and weaponizes them, painting a picture that the priest is converting the poor for money. She uses the media to humiliate Noel by blackening his face, a brutal act that shatters his standing and frays his sanity. The younger David, moved by anger and a desire for vengeance, is drawn into a plan with a political activist to kill Malathi at a rally. The moment arrives, but the act of violence takes an unexpected turn: the activist shouts the name of David, shoots Malathi, and the political plot unravels not by David’s knife but by the gun in someone else’s hand.

Fast forward to 2010, and the second David has become a different kind of vessel for conflict. Now in his thirties, he is an alcoholic fisherman living in Betul, a small village on the coast of Goa. He falls deeply for Roma, a deaf and mute young woman whose heart seems to understand him even when words fail. Roma is engaged to be married to his best friend Peter in ten days, a circumstance that complicates David’s growing love and pushes him toward decisive action. He learns that Peter’s affection isn’t rooted in genuine commitment; Peter is marrying Roma largely for the wealth of her father’s boat, a dowry that would secure his future. With the encouragement of a friend named Frenny, David contemplates stepping in to stop the wedding. Yet as the days unfold, two other powerful forces collide: David’s mother and a priest who has been helping him, each suffer separate, troubling accidents that leave them hospitalized. On the day of the wedding, David intends to declare his love for Roma, but Peter reveals a surprising truth: his love for Roma is sincere—he was only fearful of being teased if the engagement collapsed. Faced with this confession, David chooses not to intervene and allows the marriage to proceed.

As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that the two Davids are connected in ways neither of them could have anticipated. Witnessing Malathi’s attempted assassination in Mumbai awakens the first David to the fear of what he might have become—someone capable of violence in the name of vengeance. This realization drives him to leave Mumbai and move to Goa, where he follows in his father’s footsteps and becomes a priest. By 2010, the Mumbai David has taken on the vocation of a priest who unites Peter and Roma in marriage, marrying them and, in a quiet moment of reflection, acknowledging the Goan David’s restraint. He recognizes that his Goa counterpart would not have spoken out against the wedding, and he honors that restraint as part of a larger, guiding arc that links the two men across time and space.

The film unfolds as a careful meditation on impulse, faith, duty, and the often unseen lines that bind people across different lives. It explores how a single moment of anger, fear, or love can ripple outward, shaping choices that echo years later in unexpected rounds of faith, forgiveness, and reconciliation.
