What Is Dark Summer About?

During his summer break, 17-year-old Daniel Williamson is under house arrest. While his mother is away on a business trip, a disturbing event occurs, leading him to suspect a sinister presence within his home. Daniel Austin, portrayed by Keir Gilchrist, is a 17-year-old who finds himself under house arrest due to his troubling behavior of stalking his classmate, Mona Wilson, acted by Grace Phipps. Accused of hacking into her social media accounts, Daniel faces strict restrictions imposed by the court—he is forbidden from having unsupervised visitors or accessing his computer and the internet, which have both been confiscated. The monitoring device strapped to his ankle is designed to alert authorities if he steps beyond the confines of his front lawn, a reality he struggles to accept. He humorously references a case he heard of a person who went to extreme lengths to flee, even contemplating drastic measures to escape his situation.
