The film struggles to deliver a cohesive Scooby‑Dooby‑doo experience, with weak narrative structure and undercooked technical execution dominating viewer impressions. Reviewers repeatedly cite a predictable, poorly paced plot, subpar CGI, and miscast performances that dilute the familiar gang dynamic. A handful of viewers acknowledge modest entertainment value for younger audiences and commend a few musical moments, yet these isolated positives do not offset the pervasive shortcomings. Overall, the movie leaves a largely unsatisfied audience.
The Movie Echo Score Breakdown for Daphne & Velma
Art & Craft
In terms of visual and technical craftsmanship, the movie falls short. Multiple reviewers criticize the CGI, VFX, and overall production design as inferior to contemporary releases, describing the effects as cheap and the sets as poorly constructed. A solitary comment notes competent cinematography, but it is outweighed by the dominant consensus of visual inadequacy. Consequently, the artistic execution receives a low evaluation.
Character & Emotion
When evaluating acting and character depth, the feedback is largely negative. Critics label the performances as wooden, the portrayals as inconsistent with established personalities, and the chemistry as lacking. Some reviewers appreciate the fresh casting choice and note a modest effort to modernize the duo. However, the prevalence of criticism about one‑dimensional and poorly rendered characters results in a below‑average character score.
Story & Flow
The storyline is widely regarded as the film's weakest element. Reviewers describe the plot as predictable, nonsensical, and overly simplistic, with an early reveal of the villain and a reliance on overused tropes. A few comments acknowledge that the basic premise may work for a younger audience, yet the overall consensus points to a lack of coherence and originality. This leads to a low story rating.
Sensory Experience
Sensory experience, encompassing sound and visual style, receives mixed reactions. Critics condemn the sound design and visual effects for being substandard, echoing concerns about overall production quality. Conversely, some reviewers praise the end‑credits music and occasional well‑shot sequences. While the positive notes provide slight uplift, the dominant dissatisfaction with audio‑visual elements caps the sensory score at a modest level.
Rewatch Factor
Regarding replay value, the consensus skews strongly negative. Most viewers state they would not return to the film, citing its lack of engaging plot and forgettable moments. A minority of reviewers, particularly younger audiences, find it mildly enjoyable and see potential for future installments. Nonetheless, the prevailing sentiment that the movie offers little incentive for repeat viewings results in a low rewatch factor.

Daphne Blake is a high school student who hosts a popular web show discussing aliens and supernatural phenomena. Her supportive yet skeptical friend, Velma Dinkley, often seeks logical explanations for these mysteries. Following a recent episode, Daphne shares with Velma that her parents are moving to Ridge Valley, where Velma attends high school, setting the stage for new adventures.
On a perfect morning at home, Daphne begins her first day at Ridge Valley High. She quickly meets Carol, her senior advisor, who introduces her to the school’s impressive collection of cutting-edge technology from Bloom Innovative, a renowned tech company led by Tobias Bloom. While touring the school, Daphne encounters Velma but notices she seems distant, not speaking to her.
Later that afternoon, Daphne witnesses a fellow student, Spencer who walks into an open locker as if in a trance, raising suspicions. At home, Daphne’s father, who has sheltered her her entire life in an effort to protect her from the world, reveals his overprotectiveness has kept her from experiencing independence. Frustrated and determined to handle things herself, Daphne vows to rely less on her father’s guidance.
The next day, tensions rise between Daphne and Velma during a dispute over their science project, which Velma purposely sabotaged to protect Daphne from dangers she sensed at school. Their disagreement results in a meeting with the principal, who assigns them to “the best couch for conflict resolution.” After discussions, the girls reconcile, and Velma confesses she was trying to shield Daphne because of strange occurrences at the school. They decide to work together to uncover the mystery of students mysteriously disappearing.
Their investigation points to Spencer acting unusually robotic, leading them to suspect another student, Griffin Griffiths, who comes from a family with a longstanding connection to Bloom Innovative. Both Griffin and Spencer enter a locker and then vanish unexpectedly. Following this, Daphne and Velma decide they need to get closer to the top of the Bloom Bracket, a ranking system evaluating students’ academics and extracurricular achievements, to get insight into the company’s inner workings.
Mikayla, a mutual friend, currently leads the Bloom Bracket, and Daphne helps Velma climb the ranks, resorting to sabotage on other students’ projects, including Mikayla’s art exhibit. This effort temporarily propels Velma to second place but fails to unseat Mikayla due to her passionate involvement in arts and extracurriculars. When they sabotage Mikayla’s exhibit by cutting the power, they are startled by the appearance of a cloaked ghost haunting the school.
Chased by the ghost, Daphne and Velma stumble upon a hidden room. In a daring move, they plan to trip the ghost, and discover that it is actually Daphne’s father in a bathrobe, still shadowing her to protect her. After Daphne’s cold response, he realizes that she is capable of handling herself, and his overprotectiveness was motivated by fear rather than concern. Meanwhile, Daphne is able to connect with her mother via web chat, discovering she is trapped by Tobias Bloom.
Realizing Bloom’s involvement in the disappearances, the girls, with help from Daphne’s father, infiltrate his headquarters. Inside, they confront Tobias Bloom, but find that he is a hologram. They then locate Carol, who confesses to creating Bloom Innovative with sinister intentions: using the company to kidnap students and steal their ideas to become rich and famous. Carol is subsequently taken into custody by the police.
Returning to the school, which has been renewed and reformed, Daphne and Velma reunite with Mikayla and Spencer. As they settle back into school life, they notice their computer has been hacked by a mysterious ghostly entity threatening them to stay away. However, unshaken, Daphne and Velma are determined to uncover the truth behind the ongoing supernatural disturbances and continue their investigation, ready for whatever new mysteries lie ahead.
“The truth is out there.”
