What Is Dallas Texas / After the Goldrush About?
The premise of Dallas Texas / After the Goldrush without spoilers.
Wyborny, a mathematician‑turned‑cameraman on Werner Herzog’s Kasper Hauser, attracted New York and London avant‑garde interest with his elliptical films Dallas Texas – After the Gold Rush (1971) and The Birth of a Nation (1973). By transforming and collapsing shots, he turns anecdotal narratives into an examination of storytelling, echoing Robbe‑Grillet and revealing a romantic fascination with desolate, ruined vistas.
