Haunted by memories of the murder of his partner at the hands of the anarchist terrorist Nassim, Nick James has become a debt-ridden shell of his former self and now works as a janitor for the computer science firm Quantum.
Quantum’s top research team is led by the father–daughter duo, Dr. Philipp Royce and Alex Royce, who are on the verge of a groundbreaking discovery: a computer virus that has been injected with organic components to become a highly efficient anti-hacking vaccine, capable of protecting the world’s computer networks with an unparalleled degree of intelligence. Yet Alex warns that the program is volatile and not ready for commercial release. This caution proves prophetic when the virus escapes the mainframe and invades the city’s transportation system, causing a SkyBus shuttle to crash into a skyscraper and endangering countless lives.
Showing no regard for risk, Nassim launches a bold assault and takes over Quantum’s headquarters with a heavily armed commando unit, killing several top officers, including the company’s boss and Alex’s father. He then demands to be injected with the virus, hoping it will grant him the power to control all of the world’s computer infrastructures. One ally inside the building, who has managed to escape the initial attack, becomes Alex’s only real hope on the inside.
As the siege unfolds, the police gather outside and deploy their Cyclop sentry bots, but the autonomous guards prove unable to reliably distinguish between the terrorists and the defenders. The tension ramps up as digital warfare collides with a brutal, real-world confrontation, forcing the remaining characters to weigh loyalty, guilt, and the thin line between protection and omnipotent control. This clash explores themes of trauma, tech revolution, and the peril of weaponizing intelligence, all set against a claustrophobic battle for control of a city’s most critical systems.
