A large, seemingly abandoned ship drifts into New York Harbor. The vessel is found to be carrying vast containers of coffee, but hidden inside are football-sized green eggs. When the crew sent to explore the ghost ship disturb them, they uncover the brutal truth: the eggs explode, showering everything with a viscous liquid that is deadly to living things and triggers instant, gruesome explosions.
Colonel Stella Holmes leads the military response and quickly connects the eggs to a recent Mars mission that went wrong. One astronaut vanished, while the other, Hubbard, suffered a breakdown and spiraled into alcoholism. Pressed to act, Hubbard agrees to help Holmes root out the sinister plot to smuggle the eggs into Manhattan, joining forces with the sarcastic New York cop Tony Aris as they head to a Colombian coffee plantation to uncover the truth. All is not as it seems; Hubbard’s former astronaut colleague is alive and under the sway of a monstrous alien Cyclops, which uses mind control to push a plan to flood the world with green eggs and wipe out humanity. The mystery tightens as Aris is drawn into the alien’s influence and is devoured, but Hubbard rallies to save Stella and destroys the Cyclops by exploding its eye. Hamilton, a pawn under the alien’s control, meets his end as the creature’s power over him collapses. Government agents move to confiscate the remaining alien pods, but a final, shocking twist erupts when a previously unseen pod detonates on a crowded street corner.
