In Arkansas, a woman named Chrystal has been left with lasting injuries, emotional detachment, and mental instability due to a series of traumatic experiences she has endured throughout her life. The film opens with Joe, who is desperately fleeing from the police in a harrowing high-speed chase. Accompanied by his wife, Chrystal, and their son, Joe maneuvers through steep mountain roads, but soon loses control of their vehicle. The car crashes down a hill and into a tree, resulting in Chrystal suffering from a broken neck. Tragically, their son, believed to have been thrown from the windshield, is never found, leaving a haunting void.
