Slick gambler James Wylie is arrested but offered a pardon if he infiltrates a band of outlaws. Posing as a bandit, he hunts the elusive Poet, a poetic robber who ambushes bank‑owned stagecoaches and leaves verses at the scenes. Along the way he woos the Poet’s initially distant wife Ann, and as their romance deepens they join forces to capture the mysterious robber.
