Cave of Forgotten Dreams (2011): Ratings & Box Office

Located in the Ardeche region of France, Chauvet Cave contains a remarkable collection of ancient art dating back 30,000 years. Sealed for millennia and rediscovered in 1994, the expansive underground chamber holds hundreds of remarkably preserved paintings, offering a glimpse into a time when Neanderthals lived and ice age animals roamed Europe. Filmmaker Werner Herzog uses 3D to explore the cave’s beauty, reflecting on the origins of art, the lives of those who created it, and the enduring mysteries within this extraordinary, frozen-in-time world.
