As washed-up Hollywood actor Reagan Pierce arrives in Louisiana to begin filming the movie “Flashpoint,” an unsettling feeling clings to him, hinting that something is wrong. His first encounter with the director in a hotel lobby is interrupted by overzealous fans and an unsettling sense of mistrust towards the man behind the camera. As days pass, this unease grows, fueled by the peculiar stares from strangers and an overwhelming desire to abandon the project.

Despite his instincts, Reagan allows the pressure from his employer and the lure of a paycheck to persuade him to continue. Little does he realize that this choice will initiate a harrowing chain of events, challenging his very sanity.

The following morning, Reagan is collected by a van seemingly filled with fellow cast and crew members. As he gets settled, anxiety grips him regarding his rehearsal’s phone number. In a strange twist, Junior, the front passenger, takes pity and offers to call, only to pocket Reagan’s phone and dismiss his frantic pleas for its return.

The van unexpectedly halts before a rural shack, where Mike, the driver, savagely pulls Reagan out and delivers a brutal beating that renders him unconscious. Upon regaining consciousness, Reagan finds himself chained in a dingy room, surrounded by his belongings that had been discarded.

Initially, Reagan attempts to negotiate his way out, leveraging Hollywood connections to offer Mike a staggering $1 million ransom. Yet, Mike’s reaction is far from enthusiastic; instead, he toys with Reagan, swiftly slashing his face with a knife while revealing that his wife, Diana, previously worked behind the scenes on one of Reagan’s films.

Reagan’s struggle to recognize Diana only fuels Mike’s intent to dismantle him psychologically and extract a false confession. Surprisingly, Junior emerges as the sole voice of reason, reminding Mike of their intention to keep Reagan alive for a spell, obliging him to withdraw and allow his captive to recuperate.

Reagan awakens again, now with a bandaged hand and visibly battered. Junior, sympathetic to the chaos, offers him an oxycontin pill for relief. However, Mike’s return brings a darker turn to Reagan’s ordeal, as he attempts to manipulate the actor into recalling Diana and fabricating a confession.

As the circumstances spiral, Reagan finds himself ensnared in a living nightmare, trapped in the clutches of these sadistic tormentors. The glimmer of hope for survival lies in his capacity to stay mentally sharp and strategize against his captors before time runs out.

At dawn, Mike’s malicious plans unfold, revealing he has intentionally spread compromising images to the media, setting the stage for Reagan’s downfall. With a brazen sense of humor, Mike leads Reagan to a grimy room with a hole in the floor to defecate into the murky waters below. At the same time, Mike ignites an uproar on social media by posting an anti-Semitic message through Reagan’s Twitter, further corroding his public image.

As the news of Reagan’s disgrace spreads rapidly, Mike takes malicious delight in the actor’s misfortune, vowing to obliterate Reagan’s character before claiming his life. He forces Reagan to re-record his voicemail, only to be met with an unhinged, anti-Semitic rant that leaves everyone baffled.

The media eagerly seizes the story, announcing that Reagan has seemingly lost his grip on reality. Unbeknownst to them, Mike is devising his next tactic, weaponizing Reagan’s own words against him. Their twisted game escalates as Mike reveals his dark past as a disgraced cop, dismissed due to domestic abuse, and drops the shocking detail that he once drove Reagan’s wife home from work—a moment with unsettling repercussions.

Tensions rise between the two, and soon afterward, Junior appears, finding Reagan bruised and battered, with a missing tooth. The orchestrated chaos unveils Mike’s intent to use Reagan as a pawn in a vengeful scheme. In the unforgiving grip of a gator-infested swamp, Junior reports back to Mike, confirming that Reagan still breathes.

The following day, Junior feasts on grilled alligator meat, while Reagan, trapped and helpless, endures the onslaught of the sun. As Junior engages in peculiar exercises and performs quirky art pieces, his behaviour goes from complicit to disturbingly unstable.

Simultaneously, Mike crafts an alibi while Junior is obsessed with fulfilling his duties. Then, as the clock strikes 1:30 am, Mike visits his ex-wife Diana, weaving a deceptive tapestry in an attempt to reclaim custody of their children, leaving her torn between trust and doubt.

In a remarkable turn, Junior’s admiration for Reagan’s cinematic talent culminates in an earnest confession of fondness. Reagan, although flattered, becomes wary, prompting a tug-of-war in their power dynamics as he seeks ways to subtly manipulate his chains.

As night falls, Reagan’s drunken state creates an opening for Junior’s bold advances. However, just as the atmosphere becomes perilous, the ringing of a phone cuts through the tension, allowing Reagan to feign exhaustion and seize control of the situation. With Junior momentarily out of commission, he makes his bold escape.

Amid the uproar, Mike frantically looks for Junior and makes a grim discovery of his deceased body at the water’s edge. As he scans the desolate area, Reagan emerges triumphantly from the shadows, having survived by exploiting the chaos unfolding around him.

In an unexpected twist, Reagan finds himself at a television studio, enchanting an audience with tales of his turbulent experience as a kidnapped soldier. His manager excitedly informs him that his interview has gone viral, awakening Hollywood’s interest. Yet, unbeknownst to him, Junior had nurtured secret feelings and sent a poignant video message prior to his tragic fate.

The haunting footage captures Junior dancing with an alligator skin on his back while Reagan, restrained, chuckles in the background. Their laughter encapsulates a fleeting moment of aberration in a heartbreaking scene, a reminder of the tragic intertwining of their lives under grotesque circumstances.
