
Set against World War II, Benny, a young graduate played by Andy Lau, flees Japanese‑occupied Hong Kong and heads for the gambling haven of Macau. In Macau he impresses a local businessman connected to organized crime, and gradually rises through the ranks of the city’s underworld, a path that ultimately brings him serious trouble.
