What’s After the Movie tells the intense story of Johnny Gavineau, who purchases a tiger as part of his plan to establish a safari park. His stepson, Tom, who has autism, is left in the care of his older sister, Kelly, while she is at college. Kelly, worried about her brother’s well-being, tries to arrange for his care at a special hospital, but her efforts are thwarted when her payment is rejected and she discovers that Johnny has withdrawn all the money and closed her bank account. This news intensifies her feelings of frustration, especially since their late mother had intended the funds to support Kelly and Tom.

After bringing the tiger home, Johnny prepares the house as a storm approaches, instructing his workers to board up the windows and doors in anticipation of a hurricane. During this process, Kelly confronts Johnny, begging him for the money she believes is rightfully theirs. He coldly reveals that he has spent it all on the tiger, which infuriates Kelly. She reminds him that their mother wanted the money to go to Tom and her, but without an official will, Johnny has taken the inheritance for himself. Feeling overwhelmed, Kelly decides to defer her college start for a semester, but she faces the pressure of losing her scholarship since she has already deferred twice.

Later that night, Kelly dreams of harming her brother Tom to escape her family burdens, a haunting reflection of her deep-seated frustrations. Meanwhile, an unknown person releases the tiger into the house, and Kelly wakes to find her situation spiraling out of control. The house is now fully boarded up, trapping her inside, and Tom is mysteriously missing. With the hurricane storm severing phone lines, Kelly finds herself cut off from help. Her attempt to reach emergency services is thwarted by high call volumes, and her calls to Johnny reveal that he is drunk and gambling at a bar.

The situation escalates as Kelly faces terrifying close encounters with the tiger. She fights to protect herself and Tom, hiding in Johnny’s study with her injuries bleeding heavily. Amidst her struggle for survival, she uncovers Johnny’s sinister plans – he has taken out life insurance policies on both her and Tom, intending to profit from their deaths. Armed with a pistol that’s only partially loaded, Kelly tries to shoot the tiger but misses when the first chamber is empty. She then escapes to the laundry room, breaking a window to get out just ahead of a deadly attack.

Realizing Tom is still alone in the house, Kelly risks returning inside for him. She finds her brother and vows never to abandon him, even as the tiger attacks again. To keep Tom safe, she instructs him to climb into a large freezer intended for the safari house plans, and she joins him inside. As they huddle inside, Kelly hums a lullaby, reassuring Tom that they will survive this nightmare.

By dawn, Kelly awakens to the sound of drilling; Johnny is removing the boards from the door, armed with a rifle, aiming to kill the tiger himself. Kelly and Tom emerge cautiously, begging Johnny to let them leave. At this moment, Johnny confesses that he murdered their mother, making it look like a suicide because she wanted to leave him. He reveals that he set the tiger loose to kill Kelly and Tom, and he had been planning to collect their life insurance money. Before he can act, the tiger unexpectedly attacks Johnny and ends up devouring him, creating a chance for Kelly and Tom to escape. They walk away into the wreckage of the storm-ravaged landscape, hand-in-hand, determined to find safety beyond the horrors they endured.
