The film opens with stark 8 mm footage of a handcuffed woman being stabbed, then cuts to six friends driving through a desolate landscape. A truck, its driver cloaked in a rabbit costume, begins to harass them—refusing to communicate or reveal himself—and forces the group to pull over, then parks behind them. After a tense pause, the costumed driver drives away, only to circle back and kill a woman he had captive, ripping her in half with chains attached to the truck.

The Bunnyman returns and sparks a crash that kills Jack Scott Kuza. The remaining five press on on foot, encountering a deranged hillbilly whose home is surrounded by inverted crosses and bags of bones, and a man and a woman who urge them to seek shelter in a nearby cabin, promising to return after a trip to the hospital. In reality, the two are disposing of the bodies of some of the Bunnyman’s victims.

En route, two of the quintet spot the Bunnyman butchering bodies, and he kills Jenn Veronica Wylie with a chainsaw.

At the cabin, the group loses two more members when Mike [Matthew Stiller] is chainsawed, and Tiffany [Alaina Gianci] is captured and tortured to death by the Bunnyman and his deformed, hunchbacked accomplice, Pops. Tiffany’s body is then dismembered and eaten alongside Melissa [Lucia Sullivan] as the remaining two travelers, Rachel and John [Matthew Albrecht], are captured while trying to grab Melissa’s car keys.

Melissa attempts to murder a bound Rachel, but John frees himself, kills Melissa, and takes her keys and car. The two escape, but are chased by the Bunnyman’s truck. John hatches a plan: he exits the vehicle with an unmoving Rachel and offers her to the killer. The Bunnyman hesitantly takes Rachel into the cab, where she awakens and stabs him in the neck with a pair of scissors, then the pair drive off as John climbs into the truck. “We’re going to need a lot of therapy,” Rachel laments as the wounded Bunnyman limps off into the sunset. The credits roll, accompanied by more 8 mm footage that appears to depict the young Bunnyman and his family.
