Set in the postwar era, Petr Sereda, a demobilized soldier, returns to his home village and to a life on the collective farm. He is warmly welcomed and soon takes on the role of chief accountant, a responsibility that anchors the farm’s day-to-day operations. The festive mood grows as the community also welcomes Oksana Podpruzhenko, a renowned labor heroine and Hero of Socialist Labor, whose achievements mirror the collective’s own aspirations.
