The film opens with a sweeping montage of a youth training in tai chi, and a steady narration that explains the brutal discipline: mastery makes the body nearly impervious to weapons, yet it comes with a stark price — hair that turns white by the age of thirty and a voice that rises to a sharp, high tone. The focus shifts to the Lei Ping Kung Fu school, where students witness two thugs from the Chin Yin Chi clan assault an old man in front of his daughter. The lead student, Ming Tu, steps in to interrupt the attack, managing to fend off the assailants but not before one of his comrades is mortally wounded.
