Henry Copper [Sam Claflin] is a traditional, uptight English author of romance stories that stay light on passion, and his solitary career is unsettled by dwindling sales. His one published novel isn’t finding an audience, leaving him at a quiet crossroads. Then a phone call from his publisher changes everything: the book has begun to sell, but only in one country—Mexico—and he’s asked to fly out for a three-city book signing tour to push it further.

Maria [Verónica Echegui] is the translator who greets him and immediately takes the lead on the journey.
