In 1932 Siam, a ravenous female ghost named Pop roams the village of Sam Kotr, Roi Et, leaving a trail of fear as she murders the men. An exorcist is brought in to confront the haunting, and he wraps the ghost in a magical rope that is said to bind her forever, or so it is believed. The ritual carries a fragile hope that Pop’s power can be contained, even as whispers of ancient danger linger in the air.
Fast forward to 2000, when a fresh school term begins and a group of university students travel from Bangkok to participate in a rural development project in Sam Kotr. The mood shifts from academic curiosity to unsettling tension as the students settle into a landscape both beautiful and eerie. Among them, a group of boys fixates on a beautiful classmate named Ker, who is unaware that she is about to become the focal point of a renewed nightmare. In a fateful moment by the river, Ker’s presence draws a sharp line between ordinary youth and something far more sinister. The moment they stumble upon a sealed well, curiosity overrides caution, and they inadvertently release the ancient spirit Pop into their midst. The moment of release is swift, but its consequences stretch far beyond that single instant.
As the students depart for the capital, the demon’s influence follows, and Pop possesses Ker, turning her into a vessel for hunger and power. The transformation is rapid and alarming: Ker becomes consumed by a craving for the company of men, a change that unsettles her friends and unsettles the dynamic of their group. The change is palpable and disquieting, as Ker’s behavior shifts in ways that her companions struggle to understand. When she invites a classmate out for a date, the atmosphere grows tense, and the night they share a car after a movie becomes a turning point. During an intimate moment, Ker’s otherworldly predation surfaces—she transforms into the demon in the car, and the possession is sealed in a stark, disturbing moment. The possessed Ker alters in a shocking display, and the man involved survives, only to later reveal that his liver has vanished, a detail that underscores the uncanny power of the ghost.
Ker’s friends begin to notice how her appetite for life—and for men—appears insatiable, and they recognize the signs of a troubling change. Her long, strange tongue becomes a focal symbol as she cleanly licks a plate of liver, an image that heightens the horror in a way that is both unsettling and unforgettable. The transformation is not subtle, and the group realizes that the spirit is not content to remain in one body. Pop moves with eerie dexterity from vessel to vessel, a pattern that complicates any straightforward attempt to confront her.
Amid the fear and confusion, a mysterious man enters the scene. Kong appears and begins to guide the students in a new approach to dealing with the ghost. He introduces a practical method for combating Pop that involves using condoms as a protective measure, a device that seems at once pragmatic and unsettling within the context of their terrifying predicament. His presence signals a shift from passive fear to active resistance, and the students begin to understand that the battle against the ghost is not a solitary fight but a coordinated effort that requires strategy and courage.
Yet even with Kong’s guidance, the ghost proves elusive. Rather than being defeated by a single confrontation, Pop keeps leaping from body to body, slipping away whenever a moment of vulnerability opens up. The spirit’s mobility makes the threat feel pervasive and enduring, forcing the students to rethink their approach and to prepare for a fight that could extend beyond a single encounter. The danger remains constant as Pop tests every line of defense and every ally’s resolve, pushing them to consider every possible angle to keep the demon from taking another life.
In response, Kong supplies the group with a specialized camera and a suite of other weapons designed to document and counteract the haunting. The camera becomes a crucial tool for tracking Pop’s movements and for validating the moments when a body has been possessed or freed. The additional gear helps transform fear into method, turning uncertain, chaotic encounters into a structured campaign to expel the ghost. The students must navigate a landscape where the supernatural threat is not an isolated incident but a persistent force that demands both caution and ingenuity.
Throughout the escalating tension, the story remains grounded in the experiences of Ker and her friends, the tight-knit circle who must reckon with the reality that the past is never truly gone and that ancient forces can reassert themselves in modern times. The narrative threads together a blend of rural atmosphere, teenage camaraderie, and relentless supernatural danger, inviting readers to witness how a community of students confronts a vengeful spirit that refuses to stay contained. The catharsis hinges on their willingness to learn, adapt, and stand together, even when the odds seem insurmountable.
In the end, the struggle hinges on collective resolve, the clever use of protective devices, and the resolve to face a demon that refuses to stay bound to a single body. The students’ quest to outsmart Pop becomes a test of teamwork, courage, and the ability to transform fear into action, with Kong guiding them through a path that could finally restore balance to a village haunted by a long-ago terror.
