The film opens with kickboxer Jake Raye Don Wilson facing Mickey Sheehan Ned Hourani for the Lightweight Championship. A brutal throat kick ends Mickey’s life in an instant, and Jake walks away from kickboxing, believing his fighting days are over.
One year later, Jake’s friend and manager Vinny Petrello, Maurice Smith, asks him to travel to Manila to help out of trouble with a powerful figure named Su, the man behind an island enclave that traffics fighters. In Manila, Jake crosses paths with a cadre of local fighters: John Jones, James Warring; Sal Taylor, Timothy D. Baker; Manny Rivera, Manny Samson; and Tobo Castenerra, Monsour Del Rosario. He also reconnects with Dieter, Robert Marius, the stern head of the Dojo.
Unbeknownst to Jake, Dieter drugs him and places him aboard a ship with the other fighters, bound for Su’s island home, Paradise. There he is briefly reintroduced to his old friend Bobby Rose, Richard Hill, and meets Ernesto, Steve Rogers, another fighter under Su’s sway. Su, Joe Mari Avellana, is the organizer who brings fighters to Paradise, with Vinny assisting him.
The fighters stage a brief revolt, giving Jake a chance to escape and help free the others, slipping away undetected by Su. He fights his way past guards, but Dieter quickly detects the breach, and Vinny knocks Dieter unconscious. Jake is thrust into the challenger’s box where Su, Vinny, and their guests await the bout.
In the arena, John Jones and Ernest Santana, James Warring and Steve Rogers, die in their bouts, while Manny Rivera is killed while trying to escape. Ernest wins his fight, but Su orders Vinny to kill him. Jake engages Vinny in a final confrontation and, after a hard fight, kills Vinny. Back on the arena floor, Bobby shoots Dieter, and the story ends with Jake delivering a decisive kick to Su from a balcony.
