As Hong Kong Special Agent Lin Dong (Jackie Chan) races towards the hospital in a frantic attempt to save his daughter Xixi from her grave battle with leukemia, a distressing message from his trusted companion Xiao Su interrupts his haste. The message reveals that Dr. James (Kim Gyngell), a critical witness in their ongoing investigation, is in imminent danger. With steadfast resolve and a heart heavy with responsibility, Lin makes a split-second decision to divert his mission away from the hospital, opting instead for a confrontation with Xiao Su and their elite team.

Prior to their arrival, Dr. James subjects himself to an enigmatic chemical mixture while connected to a mechanical heart device. Just as they attempt to rescue him, they are besieged by a unit of mercenaries, led by the chilling figure of Andre (Callan Mulvey), whose terrifying appearance seems to leap right out of a nightmare. Caught in the torrential storm of chaos, Lin suffers severe injuries, while Xiao Su is left battered and bruised. In a tense moment, as Andre prepares to seize Dr. James, Lin acts decisively, ramming his car into Andre and pinning him against an oil tank. However, Andre miraculously survives the impact. In a desperate maneuver, Lin ignites a nearby oil tank, leading to a massive explosion that leaves both men reeling in its wake.

As Lin lies incapacitated, he receives the devastating news from Dr. James over the phone: Xixi has succumbed to her illness in the hospital—a heart-wrenching blow that might crush anyone’s spirit. Unbeknownst to them, both Lin and Andre are destined for a shocking resurrection thirteen years later in Sydney, Australia. The plot thickens with the arrival of author Rick Rogers (Damien Garvey), a man who has just released a bestseller titled Bleeding Steel, which fictionalizes the tale of a U.S. Marine implanted with a mechanical heart. He soon finds himself at the mercy of a mysterious woman, Li Sen, who cunningly infiltrates his hotel room, sedates him, and downloads sensitive content from his computer related to his novel.

As if ghosting a film, a shadowy figure, the Woman in Black (Tess Haubrich), lurks in the background, hunting for the truth behind Rogers’ inspiration for Bleeding Steel. When she engages in a heart-stopping confrontation in Rogers’ suite, the bleak outcome sees Rogers meeting his demise. Promptly, chaos ensues as police sirens close in on them. The Woman in Black soon reports back to Andre at his advanced airship command facility, delivering news of the failed attempt to secure Lin and Li Sen. Andre adeptly identifies both subjects from grainy CCTV footage and sends the Woman to track Li Sen, only to discover their swift escape.

On another front, Nancy (a pivotal character with vivid nightmares relating to a dark laboratory) finds herself drawn helplessly into this turbulent conflict as she seeks refuge in the embrace of a spiritualist who has faced similar horrors concerning Rogers. As the Woman in Black zeroes in on Nancy, Lin Dong and Li Sen come together to rescue her from impending danger. Little do they realize that Nancy is not as ordinary as she seems—she is actually Xixi, reborn by Dr. James’ revolutionary human enhancement experiments, now armed with the ability to regenerate, possibly granting her immortality.

However, her return from death has a price; her memories were erased, forcing her into an orphanage for her protection. Under the careful watch of Lin and the old unit members, Xixi’s intricate saga unfolds. Unbeknownst to her, the nightmares that haunt her mind are remnants of Dr. James’ memories, which were inadvertently intertwined with her own during her revival. Compounding the complexity is the fact that Andre—a former soldier turned mercenary—is another subject of Dr. James’ experiments gone wrong, leading to murderous impulses after he became aware of his own deteriorating condition.

Ultimately, all roads lead back to Dr. James, who, consumed by his own creations, passes away, marking Xixi the last survivor in a deadly game of human augmentation. As the threads of fate weave tighter, the Woman in Black intercepts Lin and Xiao Su, whisking Xixi away to Andre’s high-tech airship, plunging her into his twisted laboratory. As events unfold, Li Sen successfully breaks free, joining Lin and Xiao Su as they rally to reach the bank vault, where they capture the Woman in Black mid-robbery. This leads to a critical discovery—a video camera that holds evidence of Andre’s actions and his desperate need for Xixi’s blood to regain his lost vitality.

In a gripping climax aboard Andre’s airship, he injects Xixi’s blood into himself, attempting to regain his previous strength as Lin, Xiao Su, and Li Sen mount a daring rescue. Intense battles erupt, pushing all involved to the brink as they confront the monstrous mercenary.
