What Is Bellezza, addio About?
The premise of Bellezza, addio without spoilers.
The film explores the life and legacy of poet Dario Bellezza, a prominent figure in Italian literature and a friend to renowned writers like Sandro Penna, Alberto Moravia, and Pier Paolo Pasolini. In the mid-1990s, the revelation that Bellezza had AIDS marked a turning point in his life. Through interviews with friends, fellow poets, and literary critics, the documentary recounts the story of this openly gay writer who became a symbol of a vibrant cultural scene, often referred to as “Italy’s poète maudit,” a label he wryly dismissed.
