For generations the Parks family lived on a quiet hillside, with Katelyn Parks, Lindy Booth, and her father tending the town’s lighthouse. At ten, Katelyn watched as her mother entered the lighthouse basement; minutes later she was found brutally beaten and dying on the floor. Her father, Christopher Parks, Mike Daly, was arrested and convicted for the killing, and Katelyn was sent to foster care out of town. The tragedy fractured the family: Christopher spirals into madness, ending his days in a mental institution where he later dies. Katelyn never had a chance to speak to her father again, carrying that night like a shadow she can never outrun.
Twenty years later, a mysterious letter pulls Katelyn back to the lighthouse she swore she would never return to. The quiet Maine coastal town of Henderson Bay is broke, and deputy mayor Drew Cabot, James Thomas, arranges a deal with a contractor to develop the abandoned lighthouse into a tourist draw. Father Hendry, Lawrence Dane, fails to convince the town council to veto the project, and the plan to reopen the lighthouse gains steam. Yet someone from Katelyn’s foggy past warns her to stop them, though they do not reveal why the warning matters so much.
As the developers slowly begin to disappear, Katelyn is forced to confront the evil that lurks within the lighthouse. The deeper she digs, the more a family secret long buried by her grandfather surfaces, tying the present danger directly to the past she thought she understood. With each turning page of the lighthouse’s history, she uncovers connections between the murder, her father’s fate, and the town’s darkest history—connections that threaten to pull Henderson Bay into a nightmare unless she can piece together the truth.
Determined to end the nightmare, Katelyn must unearth the truth and find a way to stop the malevolent force that still clings to the lighthouse, even as the shadows of her family’s past demand answers that could change everything for good or for ill.
