On a busy day near a college campus, Ramesh, a quick-witted student with a lighthearted streak, dashes to catch a falling kite and collides with Priya, a dedicated fashion-technology student. In the swirl of motion, Priya’s pendrive—the six months’ worth of her project work—slips into his pocket, unnoticed by either of them. Priya pleads with the principal for an extension and scours the campus to locate him, determined to recover her work. When they finally cross paths, she humiliates him, while he stubbornly denies that the pendrive is in his possession. The tension between them sours the moment, and the misunderstanding seeds a complicated dynamic they will grapple with later.

After college one day, Ramesh and his friends spot Priya on a road and begin to tease her. The provocation escalates until Priya slaps him, a sharp reminder of how quickly pride can flare and miscommunication can flare into conflict.

A few days later, a domestic moment shifts everything: while Ramesh’s mother Mounica is washing his pants, she discovers the pendrive. Realizing the fault was his, Ramesh hurries to return it, and Priya is impressed by his unexpected sense of responsibility—she had expected him to walk away. This encounter marks the beginning of their fragile, evolving friendship. As time passes, Priya and Ramesh grow closer, their rapport deepening in small, shared moments and missed chances. Urged by his friends, Ramesh gathers the courage to tell Priya that he loves her. Yet, a comic misstep complicates the moment: while trying to borrow money from his friend Kumar, he ends up accidentally taking a condom from Kumar’s pocket. When Ramesh realizes what he has taken, he tries to hide it from Priya, but their tense stumble is interrupted by the arrival of the police, and he is forced to drop the item. Priya discovers the condom and is shocked, and she denies knowing Ramesh, leading to his arrest and transport to the police station.

Back at home, Ramesh is brought in and he stops talking to Priya. His friends try to bridge the gap, but she remains stubborn. Yet a friend’s confession about how deeply Ramesh loves her begins to soften her stance. She learns that he had bought her a grain of rice with her name written on it, a tiny token that reveals the extent of his feelings. This revelation shifts Priya’s view, and she begins to realize that she loves him too, though she wrestles with the fear that he might see her as someone from a lower social rung.

Meanwhile, a darker thread runs through the narrative: Maanja Ravi, a local gangster, witnesses a murder that shakes Ramesh to his core. He runs away in shock and later trips over an elderly man, an incident that alters his path. The following day, Ravi sends Ramesh away to Gujarat, fearing for his safety. In the Commissioner’s office, the deceased ex-MLA’s son appears with the elderly man, who claims he can identify the boy who ran into him weeks earlier. The commissioner decides to handle the case, while the inspector warns Ravi and his gang that this witness must be neutralized. The danger surrounding Ramesh intensifies as the plot intertwines with Priya’s personal decisions.

As Priya’s mother informs her that her father must undergo surgery and she should return to the United States, Priya vows to wait for Ramesh at the bus stop—the very spot where they first met—knowing that if he truly loves her, he will come. With the nudge of Kumar, Ramesh finally travels to meet her, but the journey is perilous. On the road, Ravi makes another attempt on his life; a second goon in the same bus that carries Priya is ready to strike. In a moment of quiet courage, Ramesh places himself between Priya and danger, and they briefly hold hands as the danger narrows. Tragically, the shield of that moment is shattered when he slips on the bus steps and is fatally struck by the bus. Mourning fills the air as his mother, friends, and Priya come to terms with the loss, while the would-be killer slips away into the night.

The film closes with a poignant image: Priya sits in a car, gazing at the grain of rice that bears her name—the tiny keepsake Ramesh gave her for her birthday—an enduring symbol of a love cut short, and a memory that will outlive the tragedy.
